Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democrats’ nominee for vice president, will be in Dallas on Monday for a private fundraising event, according to an invitation obtained by The Dallas Morning News.
Hosts for the event include Dori and Russell Budd, Sima Ladjevardian, Jill Louis, Randy Bowman, Regina Montoya, Paul Coggins, Gavin Susman, Sharon and Michael Young, and Sharon Jones Youngblood, the invitation said.
The stop is not an indication that Texas is a presidential battleground. Rather, Texas has been a reliable stop for Democrats and Republicans in search of campaign cash.
Russell Budd, a Dallas trial lawyer, hosted a March fundraiser for President Joe Biden with about 100 people. Budd said at the time the event raised $2.5 million and marked the third time Biden had visited his home.

It was one of two Biden fundraisers in Dallas on that swing, with a total haul of $4.5 million.
Former President Donald Trump also has held campaign fundraising events in the state, including a Dallas event in May.
It was not immediately clear whether the Walz fundraiser will be held at a private residence or a larger venue or how many people are expected to attend.
The campaign had not announced any public events in Dallas for Walz, who is likely to turn his attention back to states viewed as competitive in the presidential contest between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Trump.
Harris tapped Walz as her running mate in large part because of his potential appeal to voters in the crucial Midwest states of Wisconsin and Michigan. Raising money to support campaign operations in those states is also part of the job description.
The Dallas reception comes the day before Harris and Trump’s first debate.
That 90-minute session, hosted by ABC News, is expected to be pivotal in what is shaping up as a tight race.
